Auckland, June 21, 2024 — The New Zealand Cultural Arts Foundation is proud to announce the successful co-hosting of a community lecture on the significance of the Matariki Māori New Year and the newly enacted Incorporated Societies Act. The event saw participation from leaders of over thirty community organizations.

The first segment of the lecture delved into the importance and meaning of the Matariki Māori New Year. Matariki, also known as the Pleiades star cluster, reappears in the winter morning sky, heralding the start of the Māori New Year. It is a time for remembrance, joy, and peace, marking a special period for community gatherings and celebrations.
第二部分，我们强调了新的《社团法》对所有注册社团的影响。2022年颁布的《社团法》要求所有现有社团在2026年4月前完成重新登记，以符合新的法律和治理框架。我们呼吁所有社团负责人抓紧时间，确保他们的社团能够继续运作。
In the second segment, we highlighted the impact of the new Incorporated Societies Act on all registered societies. The Act, promulgated in 2022, mandates that all existing societies must re-register by April 2026 to comply with the new legal and governance framework. We urge all society leaders to act promptly to ensure their organizations continue to operate.
